Adult Protective Services (APS)
Adult Protective Services (APS) is a state-wide program to assure the safety of all Ohioans aged 60 and older. By law, Ohio’s most vulnerable older adults can be assured their safety. If someone suspects abuse, neglect, or exploitation of an older adult, they can call the appropriate county below:

The Area Agency on Aging has been contracted by Wayne Department of Job and Family Services to provide Adult Protective Services in Wayne County. The Agency has two APS Investigators that make home visits and conduct investigations. If you know or suspect abuse, neglect (of self or by others) or exploitation of an older adult, call to report it. Your call can remain anonymous.
The Agency also sponsors the Wayne Community Elder Alliance, a group of local professionals who meet monthly to discuss complex cases. Representatives from law enforcement, hospitals, elder law and other community agencies attend this noon-time meeting. Attendance is open to all interested persons. Click here for more information.

Q: What if I am not sure if I should make a report?
A: You should always make a report, even if you are unsure. The professional that receives the report will be able to determine the appropriateness of the allegations, and will, in most circumstances, make sure that the alleged victim is contacted by a competent APS Investigator.
Q: Can my identity remain anonymous if I make a report?
A: Yes, your identity can be anonymous. Or, if you prefer, you can give us your name and phone number and request that your identity be kept anonymous from the alleged victim.
