Housing Options & Assistance

Finding a place to call home can be a challenge for older adults. Area Agency on Aging has programs to assist them in finding a place that fits their needs, such as:

  • Assisted Living Medicaid Waiver Program - Provides assistance for people who would like to move from a nursing facility to an assisted living facility using Medicaid dollars. This option is also open to people on Medicaid Waiver programs in the community.
  • Residential State Supplement (RSS) Program - Provides cash payment to low-income, blind or disabled adults (18 and over) who need assistance with daily activities such as bathing, eating or dressing, but do not require the skilled nursing care provided in a nursing home.
  • Finding the Right Place to Live - Offers assistance with older adult placement in nursing facilities, or other options for older adults to call home.
  • Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) - Helps low-income Ohioans pay their utility bills and improve the energy efficiency of their homes.
  • Ohio Housing Locator - Provides information on housing in your area.
